We had just graduated from high school in Tucson, Arizona. My two best friends, Kathy and Kathy made us the famous team of the "3 Kathy's". We promptly moved out of our parents house into our very own apartment....or should I say Trailer.....which it was. We partied. We worked. We partied some more. The memories of our first taste of independence and our first true adult responsibilities flood through my mind. I remember the smell of the first summer rainstorms on the desert floor, the music we listened to, the crazy clothes, "pool jumping", flower power, our boys in Vietnam. I remember the dreams us 3 Kathy's shared of how we wanted our lives to evolve. There was never a summer in my life like the summer 1970.
Flash forward forty one years.................................
Both Kathy's and I have re-connected in the past few weeks. Then, Lynda and Bob and a few other friends wrote. That crazy e-mail! Although 41 years have passed, I still know their hearts. These are people who helped shape my life by the experiences I had with each of them.
None of our lives turned out exactly as we expected. No, I didn't get a job in Disneyland as a Mermaid at the Submarine ride. Nor did I ever audition for a part in "Hair". And I never became a famous movie star. But I did get the man of my dreams after only a few mishaps. And I did get to have my babies. A boy and a girl. Just as I had planned. Dreams do come true. All in all, the "3 Kathy's" are still a team and our lives have all turned out amazingly well, much to our parents surprise.

Spider Bling
It's almost time! Just as soon as August is over, September will bring in the new fall season. That means, not only will my hot flashes slow down, but the holidays are about to start. YIPPPEE!! So, in honor of the begining of autumn, I want to share with you my new spider pins that I just got in. They are so much fun.

Pink
Yesterday, one of my customers came in and said something that has rattled through my brain for the past 24 hours or so. Cherie P. was looking around my store and said, rather off hand, "I love pink. It never lets me down." So simply said, so simply beautiful.I have always loved pink but never found the words to describe my pink obsession. What Cherie said in those few words were what I have always felt, but never was able to express in words. Now I know why I have always loved pink. It's because it has never let me down. Thanks Cherie.
This morning my daughter surprised me with roses from her garden.
Sweet Bethany brought these in for me and at first I thought they were paper flowers, but they are not, they are from her garden.

Random Acts of Flowers and Jam
What could have been a rather ordinary day turned into an EXTRAORDINARY day! All because of two sweet friends. First, Phyllis brought in her delicious Blue Straw jam, that will accompany my homemade scones tomorrow morning. Thanks Phyllis! :) Yum!
And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, in walks Karen with her granddaughter Emily with a beautiful bouquet of fresh hydrangeas!
Hunting for Treasures
On a beautiful Sunday morning, Sweet Husband suggested a ride in the country and a Chocolate Croissant for "Second Breakfast". We eat like Hobbits at times. We stopped by our favorite French restaurant and then we were on our way to Silverton, Oregon with a side stop in Scotts Mills OR. to visit a new shop and meet our new friend "Pokey". Pokey and her sisters run Scotts Mills Treasures where I found my new favorite vase for roses. Pictures below. Afterwards, we lunched in Silverton by a serene little river, then set off for new finds. Besides the fun shopping and nice people we met along the way, the fields were full of flowers and sweet fruits in roadside stands. All in all, a very wonderful summer day in Paradise.

More Summer Fun!
Last week-end was "Expo" in Portland which means lots of treasure hunting and sore feet. Sweet Husband took me for a marathon antique shopping adventure....with only one little catch. I had to go look at boats afterward. Antiquing was lots more fun. Anyway, here are a few pictures of some of my newest treasures at Tutalu. And...I just got a shipment of new jewelry too. Lots of neat stuff.
